A highly curated selection designed to connect Europe's strongest early-stage AI founders with a small jury of top-tier European GPs. Only 5 to 8 startups will be selected.
The context
The Startup Selection takes place on September 22 as part of AI Summit Barcelona — Europe's flagship AI summit at the World Trade Center Barcelona, during AI Week Barcelona (16–23 September 2026).
The Startup Selection is a curated, closed-door session held within the summit. Selected startups also receive full access to AI Summit Barcelona 2026.
Why apply
This is not a startup competition. It is a curated access point to a small group of senior European investors, in a premium setting.
A short, structured pitch session in front of a jury of 4 to 5 senior European GPs with a strong track record in early-stage technology and AI.
The session is attended by a selected audience of investors, corporates and AI ecosystem leaders — not an open public event.
Selected startups receive full access to both days of AI Summit Barcelona, including all keynotes, workshops, live demos and networking sessions.
After the pitch session, a private networking moment is organized exclusively for selected founders and jury members — no open crowd.
Selected startups are featured across AI Summit Barcelona communications, reaching investors, corporates and AI leaders across Europe.
Subject to partner confirmation: cloud credits, AI tooling, legal support, pitch coaching, media visibility and potential follow-up introductions with relevant investors.
Investor jury
We are building a small jury of senior European investors with a strong track record in early-stage technology and AI. Jury members will be announced progressively as confirmations are received.
The funds listed below represent the targeted and invited investor universe for this selection. Status labels indicate the current stage of each discussion. Confirmed jury members will be announced as they are validated.
Eligibility
This selection is designed for serious early-stage AI founders who are ready to pitch in front of senior investors and attend in person in Barcelona.
AI is core to your product, your differentiation or your go-to-market. Not just an add-on.
You are raising or have recently closed a pre-seed or seed round. Not yet Series A or beyond.
Priority is given to Southern European and European founders, especially from France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany and the UK.
You have something to show. Idea-stage companies without a product or prototype are not eligible.
You are actively raising or preparing to raise. This selection is designed to connect founders with investors at the right moment.
At least one founder must be present in person at the World Trade Center Barcelona on September 22, 2026. Remote pitches are not accepted.
The format
A closed-door, structured pitch session on September 22 — not a public competition, not a large stage event.
The selection is deliberately small. Quality over quantity. Every startup in the room has been carefully reviewed.
A small, senior jury. No junior associates, no panel dilution. GPs with direct investment authority.
The session takes place on the first day of AI Summit Barcelona at the World Trade Center Barcelona.
Each selected startup presents in a structured format in front of the jury. The format is designed for clarity and depth — not for spectacle.
After each pitch, the jury engages directly. This is not a checkbox exercise — jury members ask real questions and challenge assumptions.
After the session, a private networking moment is organized exclusively for selected founders and jury members. No open crowd, no distractions.
After the event, the AI Summit Barcelona team may organize follow-up introductions between selected founders and relevant jury members or investors, based on fit.

Yes. Applying to the AI Summit Barcelona Startup Selection is free. There is no application fee. Selected startups receive full access to AI Summit Barcelona 2026 as part of their selection.
No. You do not need to be based in Barcelona or in Spain. The selection is open to European AI startups regardless of their location. However, at least one founder must be able to attend in person in Barcelona on September 22, 2026.
This selection is designed for pre-seed and seed stage startups. You should have at least an MVP, prototype or live product. Idea-stage companies without a product are not eligible. Series A and beyond are outside the scope of this selection.
Due to the volume of applications expected, we are not able to guarantee individual feedback for every applicant. Selected startups and shortlisted candidates will be contacted directly. All applicants will receive a notification once the selection process is complete.
No. Selection does not guarantee investment, investor meetings or any specific outcome. The program is designed to create a high-quality access point to senior European investors — not to guarantee a specific result. Any follow-up introductions are organized based on fit and at the discretion of the team and jury members.
No. This selection is exclusively for AI-native or AI-enabled startups. AI must be a meaningful component of your product, your differentiation or your go-to-market — not just a marketing label.
Yes. In-person attendance is mandatory for selected startups. At least one founder must be present at the World Trade Center Barcelona on September 22, 2026. Remote pitches are not accepted for this session.
